Froi Edrian V. Bebit

Philippines is a vast archipelago blessed with stunning beauty and extraordinary view which are indeed one of the magnificient gifts our God has shown to us. Known for its grandeur and charm, the "pearl of the orient" has something more to offer than we could ever comprehend. Lies down south, one will witness the lush, rich unique experience to a city just standing in the historic island of Mindanao, the industrial city of the south. Despite of the fact that it is situated at the foot of the country, it remains beautiful and exeptional in appearance from its head to its toe.
The vicinity of downtown Iligan.

Iligan City - this is what I am talking all about. It was not just distinguished  as an industrial haven but also a magnificient city of majestic waterfalls. This one of a kind city was derived from the Higaonon term "iligan" or "ilijan" meaning fortress of defense. With a total land area of 813.37 square kilometers, Iliganons were living peacefully within 44 barangays. This spacious place is a home to some 461,370 people and a base to numerous great features and spots.

Apparently, Iligan offers much emphasis to everybody whoever wants to visit its glamor and fascinating elegance. To prove that this is truly right, here are some tidbits of these alluring attraction.

Majestic Maria Cristina at its grandeur.

First in the list is the charismatic, aggressive Maria Cristina Falls which our city has been known for. Throughout the years, it has been used as the strong symbol of Iligan City to signify great might and power. Maria Christina Falls is the main power and electricity source for the surrounding and nearby places and  provinces. It look only  9 kilometers from the city by taking a nice jeepney ride trip from the city's pier to the Agus Bridge. The grandiose and impressive falls is more than 300 feet high and plunges into the smashing Agus River. Its magnificient and vigorous scenery would definitely drives you up to energize and to feel that the whole trip is a worth craving for.

The captivating Tinago Falls with its extraordinary appearance.

Next on the list is another God-given gift,  another  brilliant falls. But this time its more gorgeous and secretive. It it referred as one of the most beautiful and captivating falls in the country and one of the most admiring scenes in Iligan. Tinago falls is the place to be. Came from the Cebuano term "tinago" which means hidden, this magnanimous, terific falls is indeed hiding to its privacy by a nature covered with lush, thick trees and other wild vegetation and plants. This towering falls is 420 feet in height.  One must to exert much effort in to go downhill just to witness  its beauty and excellent attraction .

On the other hand, a trip would be such unforgettable when the food that is offer is surely and absolutely delectable. Iligan city's puso or rice covered in a coconut leaf would take an ordinary rice into simply creative. Iligan houses abundant stalls of delicious feast which everyone would definitely eating for.

Aside from these facts, Iliganons were also known for their hospitability. Iligan city experience a warmth of friendliness and kindness.  They actually treat everybody as their family and attaches them as brothers.

In this matter, I am very much proud to say how am I blessed to witness and discover the unparalleled treasure Iligan city's obviously have. It  was a mind-blowing idea that I, a student in a foreign land, had step on the grounds of the majestic city of Iligan.  "Cultivate Your Own Unseen Treasure"

"Then he said to him, 'Child, you have always been with me, and all the things that are mine are yours; but we just had to enjoy ourselves and rejoice, because this your brother was dead and came to life, and he was lost and was found'  ". - LUKE 15:31,32

It was a frantic, mind-blowing dramatic film that conveys a religious pact family bondness each Filipinos would love to have. It proves to be a rare treasure which adapts suitable theatrical  representation of an contemporary version of the parable of the prodigal son. It leads every audience to feel the reality that has been portrayed in the movie with a painful cancer to our mind that has been cured by our deep faith mixed with an unconditional love of our God.

Personally, I have seen this dramatic movie many times but the essence is still going strong and moving that would definitely lead you to another world, a world full of sympathy, happiness and love. I always feel the great pressure which the cinema bestowed upon me. It makes myself to fall in a huge intensity which covers   my whole body.

In the first part of the movie, which shows a typical, ordinary scenario in a church, my ears keep hearing the overwhelming music of the sound track. My eyes were closed but my ears were opened. Then several thoughts have come to my mind while I was enjoying that sound. This time, I have realize what do I have to be precious and to be treasured. Do I have something to cultivate inside of me that lie deep within myself? Unseen treasure? Curiosity then follows to the fact that the title of the film expresses  a mysterious but unified idea: to appreciate and be thankful to what you have possess , either unseen or a visible treasure.

Dialogues were deeply moving. The acts were committed to be exceptional. All of the cast were all well-trained and developed with striking lines and words. In accordance to this is the emotional uplifting, heavenly musical accompaniment blended in the movie which adds the poignancy and to the story of the film itself.

It is indeed a simple family oriented saga but an unforgettable work of art. Everyone is all dramatically in focus; antagonists became protagonists. Message, story, idea of the cinema expressed... all of them shows how our identity and culture truly was.

The things that would remind me a lot when I have just finished watching the film were the idea that we, Filipinos, gave much high value on our religious belief and love our God wherever and whenever we face difficulties and struggling circumstances. We always built our faith strong enough to cope up for the big battle. We always stay close to Him. Though we all witness long-suppressed pains and successive resentments, we frequently believe that God is always be right there.

At last, whenever you would feel that you like to experience the same as I had experience, just watch the must-see movie and discover for your own sake what these "unseen" treasures lie deep and buried in yourself and into your life!
